The section “Horizons of the Humanities in Russia: the relationship of theoretical knowledge and practical perspectives of socio-cultural development”

On May 20, 2021, within the framework of the International Conference Session “Public Administration and Development of Russia: Designing the Future”, the UNESCO Chair and the Center for Civil Society and Social Communications of the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation organized the section “Horizons of the Humanities in Russia: the relationship of theoretical knowledge and practical perspectives of socio-cultural development”. The moderators were the Director of the Center, Professor of the UNESCO Chair Olga Nikolaevna Astafieva and the Head of the UNESCO Chair, Professor Vladimir Konstantinovich Yegorov. The conference was held in distance and face-to-face formats at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration.


The discussion of the relevance of the humanities in modern conditions was attended by masters, graduate students and employees of the Academy, other higher educational and scientific institutions, institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, specialists from Interfax, the Bolshoi Theater, as well as applicants.

The conference was attended by scientists and representatives of governmental entities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chechnya, Samara Region, Chelyabinsk Region, Republic of Mordovia, Udmurt Republic.

Important issues were raised about the impact of new technologies on human life. During the discussion, the participants focused on topical theoretical issues and applied problems of management in the field of culture, education and science. During the discussion, the section participants considered issues in the context of the UN General Assembly resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, containing 17 global goals for sustainable human development.
