Discussion platform “TED Talks” within the framework of the IPACS International Student Club “InterClub”

October 25, 2023

On October 18th, within the framework of the International Student Club of the Institute of Public Administration and Civil Service (IPACS) of the Presidential Academy, a discussion platform “TED Talks” was held. The topic of the discussion was “A worth watching film.”

The speakers prepared monologues about films that they liked, and talked about interesting ideas that they were able to pick up after watching the film. After the speakers spoke, the audience had the opportunity to ask questions that interested them.

In addition to the main part of the discussion, club activists prepared interactive activities for the event participants. The winners of the quiz, as well as the best speaker, received gifts – memorable prizes with the symbols of the Institute.

Students shared their emotions and impressions of the event.

Nika Alekseeva, a 2nd year student in the program “Politics and law (program with advanced level of foreign languages)”, said:

“This is the second time I have participated in “TED Talks” as a speaker and, as always, everything is amazing. The topic chosen is very good, because it allows you to exchange cinematic experience with both colleagues and the audience, plus “TED Talks” provide an opportunity to practice English and the skill of working in front of an audience. I would really like to take part in this event next year.”

Anna Efimova, a 3rd year student in the program “International Humanitarian Cooperation”, noted:

“Many thanks to the organizers for preparing “TED Talks”! It was very interesting to hear how the films, TV series and video games presented by the speakers influenced their worldview. And I, as a speaker, also enjoyed preparing for the speech: selecting a film, writing text for the speech, etc. I will be happy to attend such events not only as a speaker, but also as a listener in the future!”
