IPACS InterClub: meeting of the “Speaking Club’s” participants in the direction “Italian language”

March 3, 2023

On February 14th, the first meeting of the “Speaking Club’s” participants in the direction “Italian language” in the new academic year took place. The main topic was “Mental Health”.

The topic of mental health was discussed during the meeting: the causes and consequences of anxiety and worries, as well as methods of dealing with them. Students actively participated in the conversation, giving examples from their own lives and offering their own solutions to problems. As it turned out, difficulties are usually overcome thanks to the support of the family, work with a psychologist and communication with friends. Students concluded that mental health requires no less attention than physical health, and therefore one should not ignore one’s feelings and emotions, because this is the key to a stable and quality life.

The meeting was moderated by Dmitry Borisov, 3rd year student for the faculty of International and Regional Research in program “Management of international projects and programs”. The moderator prepared a presentation for students with useful vocabulary that students used during the lesson. Then, an intellectual game was organized for the participants with the development of vocabulary on a given topic.

Dmitry Borisov emphasized: “I am very glad that we have such an opportunity to organize meetings of the Speaking Club. This is an amazing ability for students to speak Italian, learn new useful vocabulary, and discuss important topics. I am sure that the club for IPACS students has become not just another educational platform, but a place where they can find real friends.”

Stepan Antakov, 1st year student for the faculty of International and Regional Research in program “International Humanitarian Cooperation” shared: “The meeting was held in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. We talked about the importance of paying attention to your mental health. Participation in the Speaking Club is a great opportunity to practice the skills of spontaneous speech and analyzing current problems in a narrow circle in Italian. So far, vocabulary is a bit difficult for me, since I am learning the language from scratch, but joint discussions help to gradually overcome the language barrier. I hope that the next classes will be just as interesting and exciting!”

Vera Golbershtat, a 2nd year student at the Faculty of International Regional Studies and Regional Management of the program “Management of International Projects and Programs” noted: “I liked the new format of the Italian Speaking Club, as interesting questions are attached, I also like that not too easy topics are discussed, sometimes you need to use more complex vocabulary.”
